Clinical Nurse Specialist - Admissions Unit

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is tasked with delivering exceptional nursing care to patients, embodying a compassionate, understanding, and professional demeanor to cultivate a nurturing and therapeutic atmosphere.

Acknowledge that ensuring patient safety is paramount.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and address the physical and psychological health requirements of patients, formulate and execute nursing care strategies, maintain accurate medical documentation, and educate patients and their families regarding various health conditions.
  • Deliver nursing services in accordance with the standards and scope of nursing practice as stipulated by state regulations, policies, procedures, and institutional guidelines.
  • Confirm that physician's directives are clear when communicated verbally and are transcribed correctly following established protocols.
  • Continuously evaluate the patient's condition and document relevant information. Alert the physician to any significant changes in the patient's status, such as complications during detoxification, medical emergencies, or alterations in medical status concerning medication responses.
  • Develop nursing treatment plans tailored to the identified needs, with the initial plan completed upon patient admission.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of universal precautions while providing direct patient care.
  • Administer medications accurately as per the physician's orders and document the precise count of controlled substances as required.
  • Ensure the efficient and accurate completion of admission and discharge processes as instructed.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, offering undivided attention, and practicing rational detachment.
  • Provide leadership or coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Engage in therapeutic and professional communication with patients, visitors, colleagues, and others involved in patient care in an effective manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is essential.
  • A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Pennsylvania is required.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience in the relevant clinical area is preferred.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health is advantageous.
