What is a Manufacturing Technician at SMT?

Are you a sports fan with experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment? Do you enjoy working with your hands, producing perfect products and being part of a tight-knit team? If you answered yes, here’s your chance to kick off your career with SportsMedia Technology as a Manufacturing Technician.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will assist in the manufacturing of sports tracking technology and hardware from our Durham, NC warehouse. This opportunity requires an exceptional attention to detail, comfortability operating specialized machinery, tools and equipment as well as working the production line.

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

Each day you will work with our team to maintain production standards and work towards improving efficiency without compromising quality in our products. Maintaining a safe workspace and communication of any production obstacles or issues to the manufacturing manager are vital to our success.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Executing assembly-type functions using hand and/or power tools and perform related duties
  • Performing simple machine maintenance and repairs
  • Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Strictly adhering to prescribed safety regulations and wear proper safety attire to maintain a safe and accident-free workspace
  • Reading and understanding instruction manuals for operating equipment and machinery
  • Operating various pieces of equipment and machinery
  • Packaging completed items for shipping
  • Keeping records of materials and equipment

What Do You Bring to SMT?

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow documented processes and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform basic math computations and computer data entry
  • Ability to use measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds, climb a ladder up to 15 feet high, and walk/stand throughout entire shift
  • Ability to repetitively:
    1. Pinch and grasp hand tools
    2. Twist, bend, and reach upward
    3. Handle small screws, washers, fasteners

Our Manufacturing Technician opportunity is full-time role, eligible for medical plans and other benefits (Dental, Vision, PTO) and the pay rate begins at $20/hour.

Are you seeking weekends and nights off? Your shift schedule will be Monday-Friday, and our production hours are from 8am-6pm.
