Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Design and develop automated manufacturing systems for thin, high-performance thermoplastics, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality.
- Project Management: Manage capital equipment projects, including justification, equipment selection or design, requisition, and implementation, to meet business objectives.
- Technology Integration: Integrate technology and custom automation into new or existing processes to enhance safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and throughput.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Assemble, test, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment and systems to ensure smooth operation.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address technical needs and ensure follow-through, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team throughout the product lifecycle.
- Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions, and mentor and train junior engineers and technicians.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing automation and knowledge of materials and equipment for plastic part fabrication.
- Skills: Proficiency in engineering systems, analysis methods, and business tools, with strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software, with ability to specify automation hardware and software.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of machine design, basic electrical design, and common manufacturing practices, with familiarity with plastic part fabrication techniques, including forming and sealing methods.
