Medical Records Technician (Daytona Beach)

Temp to Perm

Tues.-Sat. 8 am-4:30 pm

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Records Technician in Daytona Beach (32117). This position is temporary to permanent, offering the opportunity to transition into a stable and rewarding career.

About the Role:

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the collection, processing, and conversion of discharged medical records from paper format into Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Your accuracy and efficiency will ensure timely access to essential patient information for physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect discharged medical records from all nursing units and outpatient areas.
  • Log received records, prepare for transport to the Centralized Document Imaging office (if needed), and process loose reports or transferred charts.
  • Perform concurrent scanning of medical records according to established protocols.
  • Maintain a well-stocked inventory of scanning and validation supplies.
  • Ensure accurate document identification and barcode placement.
  • Review paper records against scanned documents to verify image quality and identify missing documents.
  • Validate image/document errors and make necessary corrections.
  • Accurately route paper documents for scanning into the correct location of medical records.
  • Monitor the Cer-Batch Index application and follow up on missing charts.
  • Maintain temporary storage of records until destruction in accordance with state and company policies.
  • Adhere to established schedules and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with document imaging in an acute care hospital setting or similar environment is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology (preferred).
  • Understanding of security and confidentiality requirements for protected health information (HIPAA).
