Pay: $17-20/hr
Position Overview:
The Document Imaging Chart Recovery Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the transition of discharged medical records into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This position is essential for ensuring that healthcare professionals have timely access to patient information for effective treatment and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect discharged medical records from various units and departments within the facility.
- Log and prepare records for transport to the Centralized Document Imaging office as per established protocols.
- Process and route loose reports or transferred charts efficiently.
- Conduct concurrent scanning of records on nursing units and during discharges in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Maintain adequate supplies for scanning and validation tasks, notifying leadership when reordering is necessary.
- Ensure timely processing of loose report batches.
- Oversee the maintenance of Document Imaging equipment and supplies.
- Complete all necessary documentation for chart tracking accurately.
- Verify that all documents have the correct patient identification and barcodes.
- Review paper records against electronic documents to ensure image quality and completeness.
- Identify and rectify any errors in images or documents as needed.
- Accurately categorize paper documents for scanning into the appropriate medical records location.
- Monitor the Cer-Batch Index application to confirm that charts have been processed correctly.
- Follow up on missing charts and communicate with relevant leadership and supervisors.
- Maintain records in temporary storage until their scheduled destruction date, adhering to state and corporate policies.
- Meet defined schedules and expectations for task completion.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards as per current requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Understanding of security and confidentiality regulations related to protected health information.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Experience in document imaging within a healthcare setting is essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Previous experience in document imaging and clerical roles.
