Fleet Specialist

Logistics Administrative Solutions (LAS) offers streamlined solutions in accounting, hiring, payroll, and training, as well as safety guidance and buying consolidation services within the logistics and transportation industry.

The Fleet Specialist will be a multi-faceted position that requires daily interaction with the LAS staff and our Dedicated Carrier Providers (DCP). This role will serve as the liaison between the DCP and multiple outside vendor partners to support their operational needs. The incoming candidate will be a highly valued member of the LAS team and support our objective of providing the delivery of world class fleet management services for over 2,000 pieces of equipment nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management:

  1. Provide fleet management services to DCPs based on regional assignment.
  2. Assist DCPs in managing their day-to-day maintenance operations including invoice reconciliation, assist in monitoring compliance, manage repair timeframes.
  3. Assist in the creation of SOP's that will allow DCPs to direct equipment maintenance.
  4. Maintain relationships with national vendor partners that provide critical maintenance and repairs.
  5. Conduct ongoing, real-time assessment of DCP preventive maintenance and fleet uptime performance.
  6. Assist DCPs to efficiently manage all relevant expense categories.
  7. Assist DCP equipment planning activities that lead to cost optimization.
  8. Maintain relationships with network of local maintenance and repair shops.
  9. Build strong relationships with each DCP through daily interaction and regular site visits. Act as the liaison between LAS and the client on site to assist with fleet issues.
  10. Support effective fleet management data analysis and system maintenance.

Fleet Administration:

  1. Attend weekly/bi-weekly vendor local relationship calls
  2. Attend weekly equipment review calls
  3. Vet any invoice over preset threshold to be determined by Department Lead
  4. Assist with equipment orders and review of equipment within market
  5. Travel to dock locations to vet vendors outside the normal full-service lease model
  6. Travel to local vendor shops to evaluate major repairs
  7. Assist DCP with mileage compliance and equipment route reassignment

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; hours of work are typically Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., averaging 40 - 45 hours per week, with an occasional night or Saturday based on the needs of the business.


Travel:

This position requires 25% travel.


Required Education and Experience:

  1. Ideal candidate should have at least 2 years prior fleet/shop experience
  2. Knowledgeable and experienced with fleet service issues and PM compliance (3-5 years)
  3. Familiarity working with fleet management systems
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  5. Understanding of quality control processes, procedures and relevant legal standards
  6. Customer service mindset; able to serve both internal and external customers
