Position Overview

The Railcar Portfolio Management Specialist is tasked with overseeing the management of AITX's railcar fleet, focusing on activities such as lease remarketing, renewal assessments, lease structuring, pricing evaluations, and scrap decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves providing critical insights and support for new railcar acquisitions, secondary market transactions, and investment/divestment evaluations. The Portfolio Manager will also play a vital role in implementing process enhancements for portfolio management and broader cross-departmental initiatives.

Collaboration is essential, as the position requires working closely with teams in Commercial, Risk, Finance, Contracts, Operations/Engineering, and IT.

Job Duties
  • Remarketing and Renewals: Collaborate with sales, credit, and operations teams to effectively manage assignment opportunities and ensure smooth deal flow and execution.
  • Customer Opportunity Management: Oversee a pipeline of customer opportunities to optimize assignment success.
  • Scrap Decision Process: Continuously enhance the process for making scrap decisions.
  • Lease Pricing Analysis: Provide support for lease pricing evaluations and recommendations for current railcars, portfolio sales, and acquisitions, utilizing pricing models and supporting assumptions.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the formulation and execution of strategic plans for the railcar portfolio.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about key commodities, industry trends, and regulatory changes that affect the fleet and its customers.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a leasing background, with a preference for those having three or more years of relevant experience in railcar leasing.

Skills Required
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, including data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the capacity to understand broader implications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel moderately for customer meetings and industry events.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid role, requiring three days in the office.

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Management is preferred.
