Job Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Biomass User Facility Sample/Process R&D Technician to work in our Engineering Process Design & Realization department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC-ESL facility with every other Friday off. As a User Facility R&D Technician, you will report the Group Lead for the Mechanical Design and Engineering Research Group. This technician will apply skills and years of experience in the tasks of fabrication, assembly, calibration, and testing of prototype, electro/mechanical, mechanical and optical devices, instruments or systems. Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the R&D of complex concepts and techniques.
  • Develop and collaborate with contacts from inside and outside work organizations to expand work scope and business opportunities.
  • Perform tasks that apply advanced skills related to laboratory, high bay, and field handling of materials from biomass to MSW.
  • Apply standard written procedures for assigned tasks and known processes.
  • Perform assignments from research staff.
  • Extract and compile technical data and documentation.
  • Work with some guidance from principal investigators, principal researchers, scientists, and engineers.
  • Have experience with gasification systems (preferred).
  • Perform assignments at INL and field locations.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Senior Technical Support (TS3) - High School and 2-4 years related experience working with material processing equipment and R&D activities.
  • Highly Skilled Technical Support (TS4) - High School and 6 years related experience working with material processing equipment and R&D activities.
