Job Summary

Westmark Credit Union is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team. As a Software Developer, you will play a critical role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of our core processing system and maintain software, databases, reports, and forms for internal and external credit union use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct code reviews and deployment of internal applications.
  • Participate in architecture, requirement discussions, and design of internal applications.
  • Meet the needs of the end-user in a quality and professional manner, typically using independent judgement.
  • Research and recommend new software products as it relates to new or improved technical services.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Develop, test, and implement software solutions for credit union users.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities.
  • Maintain efficient code base to assure applications meet user needs through continued testing, debugging, and documentation of code.
  • Design and maintain databases in conjunction with departmental information storage requirements.
  • Generate database reports and develop reporting interfaces for users.
  • Keep current on new/relevant programming techniques through research and professional development.
  • Proactively meet with departments to determine and resolve programming needs.
  • Ensure adherence to project specs and schedules. Develop solutions to programming requests from various departments.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing, adhere to programming standards.
  • Maintain and modify core applications using HTML, Power ON, JavaScript and other programming languages to meet system changes and credit union specifications.
  • Troubleshoot existing code to minimize user downtime and maximize service.
  • Provide operational and on-call support as required in a 24/7 environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (HTML, FTP, SQL, Net, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript preferred).
  • Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), service-oriented architectures, SQL, JavaScript, Jquery, CSS Styles, C# (C, C+, C++), Visual Studio, and HTML.
  • SOAP, REST and other API experience a plus.
  • General knowledge and understanding of relational and hierarchical database concepts.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with the Symitar core, SymXchange, PowerFrame, and EASE preferred
