What you will do:

You will be deliver and execute HR services to employees and managers in a defined area. Perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with company policies.

How you will do it:

  • Leverages the full capabilities of the HR organization, e.g. centers of expertise (COE’s), shared service centers, business HR and compliance.

  • Consults on a variety of complex employee relations issues such as corrective actions, policy violations and performance issues.

  • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations and adapt quickly to change, as well as guide varying levels of the organization through change.

  • Provide work direction and coaching HR Generalists and others within the organization.

  • Is sought after by the broader HR Solutions and Services team, HR Business partner team and COE’s to discuss current or future needs.

  • Identify workforce and hiring plans necessary to drive recruiting staff to develop strategy for recruiting top caliber employees; in partnership with Talent Acquisition.   

  • Lead and participate organizational change / continuous improvement initiatives from design through implementation.

  • Present HR programs to customer groups and employees.

  • Manages issues in union and non-union environment.

  • Leverages reputation as a neutral and approachable HR professional to identify the best solution based on the situation.

  • Partner with leaders to assess current talent and develop long term talent strategies that establish required competencies and skill levels and that ultimately improve the performance of the organization. 

  • Develop and implement processes to facilitate organization changes and support with appropriate change management processes.

  • Lead and participate in projects  

  • Respects differences and promotes inclusion on an organizational level.

What we look for:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 8 years of HR Generalist related experience, with at least 5 years of employee relations experience.

  • Experience delivering sensitive and difficult communications to employees and leadership.

  • Working knowledge of relevant labor laws, legal rulings and regulations.

  • Strong employee relations skills and business management coaching. 

  • Ability to manage through conflict while maintaining strong relationships with stake-holders.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and familiarity with continuous improvement practices.

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills are essential.

  • Experience in supporting large, remote workforces.

  • Ability to flex style when faced with numerous and competing priorities. 

  • Less than 15% travel.

Preferred

  • Master's degree or MBA

  • SPHR, PHR, SCP or CP

Preference is for this to be a hybrid role (minimum of two days in office) at our Glendale, WI office.  We may consider remote candidates if a current Johnson Controls employee.
