About the Role:

B&W Energy Services seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our dynamic Engineering Team, overseeing the successful completion of engineering and design projects for our domestic and international clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely delivery of detailed engineering packages, aligning with client submittal schedules. This includes attending internal kick-off meetings with sales, assigning the appropriate project engineer and mentor during the design/development stage, conducting final reviews of each package, and managing the client approval process.
  • Facilitate the formal handover of completed engineering packages to the operations group through a structured kick-off meeting. Interface with operations as required during equipment load-out and field execution.
  • Ensure the team’s full compliance with ISO9001 quality standards, including active participation in internal and external audits.
  • Manage each project within defined budget constraints, initiating the change order process when necessary, with documented technical justification.
  • Report key metrics of the engineering group to B&W’s Executive Management Team.
  • Attend semi-weekly project meetings and resolve any issues concerning the engineering group.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during field execution, communicating solutions to B&W’s technical advisors and project managers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing equipment and develop new equipment designs.
  • Perform pre-bid reviews of plans, specifications, and other contract documents for all potential project assignments, advising the Sales Team of any special cost, schedule, or quality considerations for inclusion in project proposals.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and maintain communication with the Sales Team as needed to ensure the accuracy of contract bids, subject to availability.
  • Assist the Sales Team in preparing cost estimates, schedules, proposals, and other bid documents to obtain additional projects, subject to availability.
  • Conduct comparative reviews of inquiry and proposed contract drawings, specifications, and other contract documents prior to contract acceptance.
  • Maintain project files in accordance with B&W Energy Services’ guidelines.
  • Chair weekly engineering progress meetings to ensure adherence to project submittal timelines.


To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing a team to achieve defined goals.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong delegation abilities with appropriate follow-up to ensure completion according to schedule.
  • A strong aptitude for mathematics and the ability to analyze, compare, and interpret facts and figures quickly.
  • Extensive understanding and mastery of chemical cleaning, transonic velocity steam and air blowing, high-velocity oil flushing, hydro-testing, pulse or slug type flushing, and related cleaning methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge and mastery of compressible and incompressible fluid flow.
  • A thorough understanding of the thermodynamic properties of steam and heat and mass balances.
  • In-depth knowledge of various energy sectors, including power plants, refineries, crude upgraders, ethylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycol, methanol, sulfur, and gas plants.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work well with others and within business processes.
  • A high standard of integrity.
