Role Summary


The Cost Estimation Specialist will be responsible for producing and upholding standardized, reliable, and realistic cost assessments that accurately reflect the evaluated risk factors for each project.


Key Responsibilities


Employ cost estimation methodologies and tools to generate comprehensive cost assessments that encompass engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.


Factor in project complexity elements into estimates and compile essential input data, including project goals, scope, and execution strategies.


Develop methodologies for calculating quantities based on design specifications.


Conduct scenario analyses and uncertainty evaluations on cost estimates, considering project risk assessments.


Facilitate and assist in the review and validation of cost estimates.


Benchmark estimates against historical data, industry standards, and established internal performance indicators.


Evaluate project scope and primary components to create consistent foundational estimates.


Translate identified project scope and engineering outputs into capital expenditure estimates, including detailed Material Take-Offs (MTOs) aligned with precise pricing and construction labor hours (Type-3).


Identify uncertainties and apply suitable contingencies.


Assist in the formulation of detailed project cost forecasts (Type-4).


Incorporate actual project costs to date and detailed MTOs matched with pricing and labor hours for remaining expenses.


Develop an Estimate Basis to document the estimation process.


Support the collection of actual cost performance data, normalizing information for future metrics and benchmarking.


Ensure realism in cost estimates despite commercial pressures and optimism from project teams.


Maintain consistency in cost bases through strict adherence to control processes.


Promote awareness of the significance of developing cost estimates in accordance with established control procedures.


Qualifications

Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the industry, particularly in downstream manufacturing.

Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication abilities.

Strong understanding of all phases of project delivery.

Experience with Aspen software (ACCE) is preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Meticulous attention to detail is essential.

Educational Background

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
