Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Consultant specializing in Construction Monitoring. Responsibilities include supporting pre-financing due diligence reviews, including reviewing and confirming project costs and schedules, and monitoring the construction of large electric power and renewable energy projects. You will confirm the reasonableness of projected costs and schedules, and monitor and review the performance of owners and contractors for compliance with contractual obligations and generally accepted industry practices, and assess and report on construction progress, commissioning and testing relative to design basis, schedule, and budget, including:

  • Review EPC / Design Build construction costs and schedules
  • Conduct monthly site visits
  • Review owners’ and contractors’ monthly progress reports
  • Review startup/commissioning plans, activity, and progress of hiring/training staff
  • Assist with review and approval of proposed change orders
  • Review and approve payment requisitions
  • Review and confirm performance testing and completion
  • Prepare monthly construction monitoring reports

The work involves a blend of technical and business skills centered on due diligence and you will work as a team member managing and/or assisting with analysis and plans related to project development and construction. You will work with developers, contractors, investors, lenders, governmental agencies and other stakeholders and advisors. The work includes regular travel and requires excellent communication, teamwork, and report writing skills, and the ability to manage and flex with multiple projects and schedules simultaneously.

 

While the role is ideally hybrid, located in Denver, CO, full-time remote may be acceptable depending on the candidate's qualifications.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Five-plus years construction / inspection / estimating / consulting / project planning experience
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Primavera, Project)
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team, and under deadline
  • Knowledge of the power, energy, or renewables industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
