The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and managing employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and providing support to employees regarding benefits-related inquiries. The role involves coordinating with vendors, managing enrollment processes, and analyzing benefits data to optimize the benefits offerings of the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer various employee benefits programs such as health insurance, dental and vision plans, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and retirement plans.
  • Manage benefits enrollment and termination processes, ensuring accurate and timely updates to employee records.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers and third-party administrators to resolve issues and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and ACA.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and filings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to benefits administration.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits plans, coverage, and claims.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and provide ongoing education to employees about benefits options and updates.
  • Develop and distribute communication materials to inform employees about benefits programs and changes.
  • Liaise with benefits providers to negotiate plan options, premiums, and service agreements.
  • Provide recommendations for benefits plan enhancements and cost containment strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual open enrollment process, including communication campaigns, system updates, and employee support.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of enrollment changes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits plans and regulations.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
