The Senior Accountant supports a variety of finance and accounting functions and high-level analysis which include administration of payroll, financial reporting, grant fund and subrecipient monitoring, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and the implementation of compliance controls according to GAAP.


If the applicant is highly skilled and can demonstrate the experience required to work effectively, we will entertain both part-time and full-time candidates for this position, working a minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 40 hours per week.

  1. Payroll Administrator, overseeing payroll functions including processing timesheets, maintaining benefit accruals and tax form information, supervising payroll processing to ensure timely pay for employees, and preparing annual W2’s.
  2. Reconciles payroll and payroll liability accounts, collaborating with Human Resources to address any variances.
  3. Enters information in the payroll system, ensures accuracy and completeness of hours, allocations, wages, benefits, address changes, and other information.
  4. Responsible for reviewing quarterly and annual tax filings in accordance to state and federal regulations.
  5. Facilitates and processes accounts payable invoices, verifying federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, obtaining necessary approvals and resolving discrepancies.
  6. Oversees and completes balance sheet reconciliations.


Prepares, understands and reviews financial statements.

Ensures proper processes and internal financial controls are followed to maximize efficiency, compliance with federal state regulations, and integrity within the accounting system.

Audits journal entries and documents to ensure accuracy, propriety, proper account coding, adequate explanations, and other applicable information in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Reports and processes state and federal tax deposits, monthly, quarterly or as needed.

Reviews grant contracts and agreements, subrecipients, and modifications to ensure they are complete, accurate and ensures that Workforce Snohomish meets all reporting requirements. Monitors grants, subcontracts, subawards, subrecipients and obligations activity on a regular basis.


Assists with monitoring subrecipient recipients to ensure compliance with federal fiscal and grant guidelines.

Assists in gathering data related to annual financial audit, state monitoring, and 990 returns

Retains and files all financial records under file management system.

Continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process, redesign key accounting processes and procedures when necessary.

Advanced analytical skills.

Advanced Excel skills.

Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting tools (including MIP software or other complex accounting software, and other company technologies and software.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.

5+ years of prior full-cycle accounting required.

Non-profit/government accounting experience highly preferred.

Familiarity in Uniform Guidance 2CFR200 highly preferred.

Experience with MIP Fund Accounting, Paycom payroll, and/or SAP Concur software is a plus.


Work Environment

Work is typically performed sitting at a computer desk. Workdays and hours are subject to need and availability to ensure operational coverage throughout the work week. However, daily demands may require occasional early arrivals, late departures, extended hours, as well as weekend or holiday work.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Lift up to 20 pounds.

Travel Required

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
