Job description

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within the Defense Industry to join in on a small team and hit the ground running.

Summary:

This Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for leading the designs, development. This includes new designs and support for existing products. The right candidate must be a team player and independent contributor as necessary and demonstrate a wide degree of creativity. You will be asked to provide solutions based on experience and judgment to execute to the project plan and accomplish goals. This position reports to the Head of Engineering.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for RF systems
  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Perform analysis and simulations to ensure designs meet all specifications and requirements
  • Collaborate with electrical, RF, software engineers, and other team members to integrate mechanical designs with overall system architecture
  • Conduct prototype testing, evaluate results, and implement necessary design changes
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure design feasibility and functionality
  • Maintain documentation for all design and development activities in accordance with company standards and industry best practices
  • Operate and utilize various machining tools such as band saws, drill presses, and soldering irons for prototype development and testing
  • Fabricate and modify components using machining tools to support development and testing
  • Develop and implement test plans for mechanical components and assemblies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the design, prototyping, and production phases

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience
  • Expert in CAD software
  • Experience with finite element analysis
  • background of materials science and manufacturing processes
  • RF experience
  • Hands on experience with machining tools
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations and reasoning to solve problems
  • Capacity to work in a moderate noise environment and occasionally handle electrical equipment; occasional exposure to the risk of electrical shock
