Position Summary: We are seeking a proficient Mechanical Engineer with a robust background in configuration management to enhance the design and development of innovative RF reference systems. The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and configuration management, familiarity with industry-standard tools, and a commitment to refining and sustaining our documentation processes. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity, consistency, and traceability of our systems throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for RF systems.
  • Conduct analyses and simulations to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Perform prototype testing, assess results, and implement necessary design modifications while adhering to configuration management protocols.
  • Engage in design reviews and provide technical insights to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all design and development activities in line with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Utilize various machining tools, including band saws, drill presses, and soldering irons, for prototype development and testing.
  • Fabricate and modify components using machining tools to support development and testing efforts.
  • Establish and uphold configuration baselines for development, testing, and production environments.
  • Manage and track configuration items utilizing configuration management tools.
  • Develop and execute test plans for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Ensure that the mechanical design process aligns with project timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Create or analyze schematic diagrams for custom or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) mechanical and electronic hardware.
  • Collaborate with electrical, RF, software engineers, and other team members to integrate mechanical designs with the overall system architecture.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on configuration management best practices.
  • Continuously enhance documentation structure to meet project and operational needs.
  • Ensure that configuration management contributes to overall project risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
  • Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and convey technical information clearly.
  • Experience with RF systems or electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with machining tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations and reasoning to solve complex problems.
  • Experience in managing configuration baselines in intricate engineering environments.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Microsoft TFS, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
  • Knowledge of RF systems or related technologies.
  • Understanding of industry best practices in configuration management.
  • TS clearance with eligibility for SCI with a polygraph.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in applications operating on Microsoft Windows and Linux systems, including Microsoft Office and domain-specific applications.
