Position Summary: We are in search of a proficient Mechanical Engineer with a solid foundation in configuration management to play a pivotal role in the design and advancement of innovative RF reference systems. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience in configuration management and mechanical engineering principles, familiarity with industry-standard tools, and a commitment to enhancing and sustaining our documentation processes. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity, consistency, and traceability of our systems throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for RF systems.
- Conduct analyses and simulations to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
- Execute prototype testing, assess results, and implement necessary design modifications while adhering to configuration management protocols.
- Engage in design reviews and offer technical insights to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all design and development activities in line with company standards and industry best practices.
- Utilize various machining tools for prototype development and testing.
- Fabricate and modify components to support development and testing efforts.
- Establish and uphold configuration baselines for development, testing, and production environments.
- Manage and track configuration items utilizing configuration management tools.
- Develop and execute test plans for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Ensure alignment of the mechanical design process with project timelines and budget constraints.
- Create or analyze schematic diagrams for custom or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) mechanical and electronic hardware.
- Collaborate with electrical, RF, software engineers, and other team members to integrate mechanical designs into the overall system architecture.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on configuration management best practices.
- Continuously enhance documentation structure to meet project and operational needs.
- Ensure that configuration management supports overall project risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in performing essential duties satisfactorily. Candidates must have or be able to obtain any necessary clearance that may be required for their position. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and convey technical information clearly.
- Experience with RF systems or electronics.
- Hands-on experience with machining tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical procedures and regulations.
- Ability to apply mathematical reasoning to solve problems.
- Experience in managing configuration baselines in complex engineering environments.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and passport.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with configuration management tools, such as Microsoft TFS, Ansible, Puppet.
- Familiarity with RF systems or related technologies.
- Knowledge of industry best practices in configuration management.
- TS clearance with eligibility for SCI with a polygraph.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be proficient in applications running on Microsoft Windows and Linux systems, including Microsoft Office and domain-specific applications.
