The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA) seeks an energetic, enthusiastic individual committed to SFA's mission as a Director of Operations. This year-round position is full-time and provides an opportunity to work in a small, innovative, mission-driven, and collegial nonprofit organization. A team-oriented and can-do attitude is essential Flexibility is a must The qualified applicant will be eager to support the organization's effort to help Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) students obtain postsecondary scholarships, and college and financial aid advising.


To help us continue to grow and excel, we are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to join a highly skilled team. The ideal candidate will have management experience in a dynamic setting. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced, but close-knit workplace. The Director of Operations reports to the Executive Director and will work closely with the entire team and will work on-site.


Objectives:

·        Assist the Executive Director with organizational goals and overall smooth operation of the SFA throughout the year

·        Collaborate with the SFA team in the development of student support and fundraising goals and long-term operational plans

·        Maximize efficiency and productivity through process analysis and team collaboration

·        Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity

·        Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary


Key Responsibilities:

·        Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives

·        Oversee procedures and maintain quality control for SFA’s database to track donors, students and other pertinent information for the purpose of providing accurate financial and program records for evaluation and audit. Generate reports for evaluation. Coordinate and reconcile financial record

·        Support the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in organizing and implementing successful fundraising and community events

·        Draw on relationships with partners, donors, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals

·        Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks

·        Devise strategies for ensuring growth, and implement process improvements

·        Adhere to policies and standards, and ensure compliance

·        Work closely with Executive Director to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment

·        Other duties as Assigned: Assist the SFA Board, the Executive Director, and ACPS partners to promote the mission and objectives of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria in the community


Required skills and qualifications:

·        Strong interpersonal skills

·        Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management

·        Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity

·        Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost efficiency and accuracy while supporting rapidly shifting business demands

·        Superior organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance competing priorities


Preferred skills and qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in relevant area

·        Experience in event planning is a plus

·        Former non-profit experience is preferred 

·        Well-versed in operations management and competent in assuming delegated duties

·        Strong leadership and critical thinking abilities

·        Superior interpersonal skills, with experience working with people from diverse backgrounds

·        Ability to work independently

·        Acute knowledge of, and experience with data analysis, Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
