Job Summary
The International Program Coordinator provides administrative and program support for a large and growing research program within the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI). They provide administrative coordination for a cross-national research capacity building program in East Africa, including coordinating regular multi-site video conferences, developing protocols and manuals, facilitating ethics submissions, maintaining study documents, providing guidance to investigators and managers in developing job descriptions at each site, and monitoring overall progress towards established goals. This person is also responsible for compiling materials for new subcontracts and subcontract amendments, monitoring invoicing, contributing to progress reports, coordinating multi-national research committees, and planning the annual in-person meeting of researchers. Additionally, the International Program Coordinator assists the investigators and program manager with development of new grant proposals, including liaising with UCSF's pre-award team, preparing budgets and budget justifications, managing submission timelines, and preparing IRB and administrative documents for the grant submission. The International Program Coordinator works in a mission-driven work environment and is adept at managing multiple competing priorities. As part of a team coordinating a number of projects, they may also be asked to support studies based in other regions of the world, including Latin America, as needed. International travel to East Africa is expected.

Global Brain Health Institute
The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) was established in 2015 with two co-founding sites at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) and Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). GBHI works to reduce the scale and impact of dementia by training and supporting a new generation of leaders in brain health. GBHI's unique training program is a 12-month fellowship and UCSF certificate program where trainees come from a wide range of interprofessional backgrounds including doctors, lawyers, writers, artists, caregivers and policymakers. GBHI competes to attract high quality, international candidates and seeks to raise greater awareness of the program through written materials, social media and strategic communications. More information is available at www.gbhi.org. GBHI is integrated within the Memory and Aging Center at the University of California, San Francisco.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and 1 or more years of related work experience; and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Willingness to travel internationally
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
- Familiarity with University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
