Position: Director of Business Intelligence


Key competencies required for the position:

  • Business Intelligence Capabilities: Leading Candidates must possess deep BI & Data experience, including the ability to lead and manage multiple BI projects/programs in both Kanban and Scrum methodologies.
  • Resource Management Capabilities: Proven experience in managing and leading Business Intelligence or Data oriented resources in Analysis & QA.
  • BI Products Familiarity: Prior hands-on technical experience in working with BI tools including JIRA, Relational Databases (Snowflake, SQL Server) and Reporting Tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Problem Solving & Analytical Orientation: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills that are used to track, analyze, interpret and report key historical and projected operating metrics, trends, and financial results. Able to take "deep dive" into the details of the business while staying focused on the big picture. Takes a systematic, structured view of situations, deconstructing them into their fundamental elements. Insists on proof in data, peeling back layers to understand root causes, and uses data to anticipate/project emerging issues, drive innovation and support business decision-making.
  • Results Oriented: Results oriented, including the capacity to both think strategically and execute tactically, embodying a blend of technical, creative, business and communications skills.
  • Effective Communication and Decision Making: Highly articulate and able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner. Makes timely decisions when a quick response is required, and a number of possible alternatives are available. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Persuasiveness/Influence: Excellent ability to lead by influence and gain respect. Builds effective coalitions. Prioritizes, and moves the agenda forward. Builds and sustains relationships across all functions and levels in an organization to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution of plans.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Business intelligence work in take process in JIRA. Build, maintain and share metrics and updates to key stakeholders.
  • Conduct daily, weekly and period meetings with Business and Internal resources.
  • Manage human resource process for direct reports including touch points, annual performance reviews and compensation.
  • Train, hire and mentor existing and new resources.
  • Supervise and manage offshore and onshore teams directly
  • Collaborate, align and work with peers in completing BI projects.
  • Creates and maintains management reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual on BI projects and programs.
  • Collaborate with senior management that allow for informed decision-making on strategic planning, budgeting and decision making regarding the creation of management priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

The successful Director of BI candidate must possess superior intelligence with a distinguished record of increasing responsibilities and success. Financial Services industry experience working with (or consulting for) a credit granting financial institution (e.g. in consumer banking, credit cards, and/or consumer finance) is preferred but not a must.

  • The ideal candidate must have significant (7-10 years) of project and program management experience in a technical setting.
  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter with high energy and unyielding intellectual curiosity. S/He must possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills and have a superior results orientation.
  • The successful candidate must be able to roll up his/her sleeves and comfortably execute at a hands-on tactical level. Knowledge of contemporary cloud databases, data modelling, and business intelligence (BI)software modules preferred.
  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, math or a related field with a distinguished academic record required.
  • Certification in Agile/Scrum is preferred.
