Position: Head of Business Intelligence

Essential Competencies for the Role:

  • Expertise in Business Intelligence: Ideal candidates should have extensive experience in BI and Data, demonstrating the ability to oversee and direct multiple BI initiatives utilizing both Kanban and Scrum methodologies.
  • Resource Leadership: Proven track record in leading and managing teams focused on Business Intelligence or Data Analysis and Quality Assurance.
  • Familiarity with BI Tools: Hands-on experience with BI technologies such as JIRA, Relational Databases (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server), and Reporting Tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is essential.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities to monitor, evaluate, interpret, and report on key operational metrics, trends, and financial outcomes. Capable of conducting in-depth analyses while maintaining a strategic overview. A systematic approach to dissecting complex situations into fundamental components is required, along with a strong reliance on data to identify root causes and forecast potential challenges.
  • Results-Driven Approach: A focus on achieving results, combining strategic thinking with tactical execution, while integrating technical, creative, business, and communication skills.
  • Communication and Decision-Making: Highly articulate, capable of delivering critical messages clearly and persuasively. Demonstrates timely decision-making abilities in dynamic situations with multiple options. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Influence and Persuasiveness: Strong capability to lead through influence and earn respect. Builds effective partnerships and prioritizes initiatives to advance organizational goals. Maintains relationships across various functions and levels to ensure seamless execution of plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Business Intelligence operations within JIRA, developing, maintaining, and sharing metrics and updates with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with Business and Internal teams.
  • Manage human resource processes for direct reports, including performance evaluations and compensation discussions.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor both existing and new team members.
  • Directly supervise both offshore and onshore teams.
  • Collaborate with peers to successfully complete BI projects.
  • Develop and maintain management reports for BI projects on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Engage with senior management to support informed decision-making regarding strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate for the Head of Business Intelligence position will have a distinguished history of increasing responsibilities and achievements. Experience in the Financial Services sector, particularly with credit-granting institutions, is preferred but not mandatory.

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of project and program management experience in a technical environment is required.
  • The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with high energy and a strong intellectual curiosity. Must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on results.
  • Ability to engage in hands-on tactical execution is essential. Familiarity with contemporary cloud databases, data modeling, and BI software is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics, or a related field with a strong academic record is required.
  • Agile/Scrum certification is preferred.
