Position Summary

The Pre-Commercial Program Manager serves as the primary liaison between the company and its external clients. This role involves advocating for customer needs internally while balancing company objectives. Responsibilities include customer service, planning and forecasting, financial reporting and monitoring, quoting and budgeting, project management, and communication regarding all aspects of a customer program. Additional duties include managing recurring and large development programs, handling device quoting, conducting coordination meetings, generating build requests, and overseeing the shipping process. The position is an interesting one, as it will ultimately support a wide range of activities, from a high level (professional interaction with our customers) to a granular "in the weeds" execution level (reconciling and approving operator timecards).

Essential Functions

  • Interact with customers through calls, video conferences, emails, and in-person meetings.
  • Communicate customer requirements and needs internally to all stakeholders.
  • Manage and implement projects.
  • Monitor financials, create metrics, mine and interpret data.
  • Handle budgeting, quoting, and pricing.
  • Present all aspects related to customer programs to senior management.
  • Engage in forecasting, planning, and coordination with operations and materials management.
  • Provide customer service and communication related to project status, shipments, invoices, forecasts, and build plans.
  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable.
  • Coordinate customer visits, audits, and projects.
  • Manage projects involving recurring orders where development is complete, and more product is needed but not ready for full production transfer.
  • Oversee large development programs where current products are supplied while new development is ongoing.
  • Handle all device quoting, ensuring quotes are accurate and standardized.
  • Conduct weekly meetings to coordinate development and production priorities.
  • Generate build requests and ensure necessary documentation exists for efficient scheduling.
  • Drive build processes, support operators, and ensure timely starts.
  • Ensure Lot Records (LRs) are completed appropriately and routed to Quality for review.
  • Act as gatekeeper for shipping to clients, ensuring compliance with purchase order conditions and quality management systems.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education

Preferred: College degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering; MBA preferred


Work Experience

Required: Minimum of 3 years in customer service, project management, or a supervisory role

Preferred: At least 5 years of experience in customer service and project management, with significant exposure to finance and budgeting. Proven communication skills and experience in matrix management are highly desirable.


Skills & Experience:

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Strong project management abilities, including tracking and communicating detailed plans and milestones.

Capability to manage tasks through peers in a matrix environment with direct reports.

Proficiency in sorting data, creating metrics, and communicating performance.

Extensive use of ERP systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and related tools.

Solid understanding of accounting and finance, with the ability to manage a program to profitability by evaluating and creating metrics, quotes, budgets, and P&Ls.
