Summary of Essential Functions for the Position:


The Office Specialist Hospice is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activities of a multi-faceted Hospice agency to ensure smooth and efficient office and good patient relations. Responsible to perform and ensure efficient intake and scheduling of the clinical staff, patient care activities and communication with team members regarding the intake & scheduling activities and communication within the EMR. Works closely with the Executive Director/Director of Nursing, in conjunction with staff, referrals sources, vendors, and outside resources to assist in the coordination of care, ordering of medical and office supplies, and customer care calls.



Qualifications / Licensure / Certification / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Experience in healthcare, home health or hospice required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be well organized and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team environment and with deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Acceptance and ability to demonstrate and support the core values and goals of Agency
  • Must demonstrate good customer relations skills and a commitment to providing quality service
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software.
  • Working knowledge of current EMR database preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance and reliable transportation required
  • Travel may be required


Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Work environment is relatively busy and can be stressful at times. The position requires visual acuity and dexterity, sitting, standing, some pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Auto related accidents possible.
