Position Overview

The Manager, HR Operations will provide leadership on the full scope of services supporting all employees at Exact Sciences.

This role will manage a team of HR Coordinators responsible for inquiry support and processing transactions from candidates, employees, HR Business Partners, and Centers of Excellence.


The Manager, HR Operations will be responsible for driving continuous improvement for HR operations and/or talent acquisition operations processes and will be critical in the ongoing transformation of tactical operations, processes, and systems into efficient, customer friendly and innovative strategies to support our growing organizational needs.


The ideal candidate for this position is comfortable with ongoing change, can flex between providing tactical level support and strategic goal setting.

A focus on providing world-class service to our internal and external stakeholders will be critical for success.


This is a hybrid role with time in our Madison, WI office on a regular basis and some time working remotely.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead teams while maintaining a positive, energetic, and collaborative culture.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching; maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize, and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Demonstrates a customerservice oriented approach to problem solving and gathering feedback to perform root cause analysis.
  • Be the continuous improvement champion for the team, drive the development and scalability in HR Operations processes to support a growing business.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Oversees and leads HR Operations projects and initiatives.
  • Strong documentation, organization, communication, and collaboration skills: develop and deliver HR Operations related communications, training, and education.
  • Ensure the ongoing quality of employee data through regular, scheduled audits to maintain integrity and trust in source data.
  • Positive, selfmotivated individual who can complete goals independently.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience in business or technologyrelated field.
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience working with or supporting HR Operations or HR Shared Services processes in a growing company.
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in project management (PmP, Scrum, etc.).
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Experience with ServiceNow HR Case Management.
  • Previous experience creating processes, systems, metrics, and other operational structures.
  • Strong HR and business acumen with a focus on providing a world class employee experience.
  • Ability & desire to solicit feedback on key systems and processes to ensure service levels continue to scale with our business.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (including SOX, HIPAA).
