Description
Company seeks an experienced professional to provide strategic and tactical leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of long-term and short-term financial initiatives across PSWCT/UP. Responsibilities include managing reserves and operational funds, preparing financial statements and reports, and coordinating internal audit functions. The Finance Director will be a subject matter expert providing financial guidance to PSESD and PSWCT/UP Leadership, Executive Advisory Boards, PSWCT/UP membership, and regulatory agencies. This role collaborates with internal partners to ensure financial services align with members' needs and utilizes business intelligence to demonstrate value proposition while maximizing outcomes for injured workers. As a member of the PSWCT/UP Leadership Team, the Finance Director plays a crucial role in decision-making processes that benefit and position PSWCT/UP and its members for mutual success.

Purpose Statement
The Director of Finance position at Workers' Compensation Trust and Unemployment Pool (WCT/UP) involves providing leadership, strategic oversight, and management for delivering high-quality financial services. This role also serves as a financial expert, offering guidance and recommendations to WCT/UP Leadership, Executive Advisory Boards, WCT/UP membership, and regulatory agencies.

This role reports to the Executive Director of PSWCT/UP

Essential Functions
  • Compiling data from various sources to analyze issues and ensure compliance
  • Implementing and maintaining internal fiscal structure, policies, and procedures
  • Establishing accounts and cultivating relationships with financial services entities
  • Developing financial plans to achieve organizational objectives efficiently
  • Facilitating meetings to address a range of issues and support staff
  • Maintaining financial records and managing actuarial relationship
  • Monitoring and overseeing budget, financial trends, and fiscal policies
  • Participating in meetings to convey and gather information on fiscal matters
  • Preparing financial reports, projections, and interpretations
  • Researching information for effective management of assignments
  • Responding to fiscal inquiries and overseeing fund disbursement
  • Supervising personnel to advance leadership development and team effectiveness
  • Supporting executive leadership to achieve established goals
Other Functions

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • Enterprise-wide financial reporting and accounting experience
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Insurance/Risk Pool accounting/financial experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing consulting auditors and actuaries
  • Knowledge of WA State regulations
  • GASB accounting experience
  • CPA, MBA or MPA
  • Advanced spreadsheet/database proficiency
