The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a crucial and strategic role at Northwest Center, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and collaborating closely with the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Communication:

  • Foster strong relationships with division leaders, front-line staff, the Executive team, the Board, and key external stakeholders, including donors and corporate advisors.
  • Lead complex strategic transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, and strategic alliances.

Team Management & Development:

  • Directly supervise the Controller and oversee the accounting and finance teams.
  • Develop an organizational and staffing plan to support ongoing growth across various business and mission segments.
  • Attract, nurture, and retain talent to strengthen the financial infrastructure.

Financial Strategy & Operations:

  • Manage the capital structure to finance the organization's strategy, sustain growth, and monitor the cost of capital.
  • Oversee cash and liquidity management concerning working capital requirements.
  • Ensure excellence in financial systems and reporting.
  • Translate long-term strategies into actionable and measurable goals.
  • Engage in strategic planning and financial forecasting.

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Identify and mitigate business risks, integrating risk management processes into daily operations.
  • Oversee legal documents, contracts, and real estate negotiations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required); Advanced Degree preferred
  • CPA or equivalent; CMA preferred

Experience:

  • 15 – 20 years of experience in Accounting with increasing management responsibilities, including prior experience as a CFO.

Essential Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills suitable for interactions with the Board, Executive Team, managers, and staff.
  • Experience in diverse business environments and a track record of process improvements.
  • Proven ability to build cohesive and high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership in financial administration with expertise in accounting systems, audits, budgeting, and GAAP.
  • Capability to operate at both granular and strategic levels.
