The Position

The project manager will implement IT projects within business applications and IT infrastructure to support the business in the Novo Nordisk Lexington, Massachusetts site in close collaboration with global partners, business partners and IT.

This position will work across Novo Nordisk departments and locations, managing projects benefitting various functions such as Research, Early Development, Clinical Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Facilities, IT, and others.

Projects may entail implementing new commercial off-the-shelf platforms. custom developed solutions, introducing process improvements, accommodating functional and user base expansions, platform migrations, new or updated integrations, platform decommissions, and others.

The role performs a critical function in the important expansion of Novo Nordisk into the US East Coast.

Relationships

Reports to Head of IT in Boston at in Boston/Lexington Campus.

Internal relationships include Novo Nordisk R&D sites in the North American region (Including Boston area sites, Seattle, Fremont, and Boulder.) employees, lab and scientific research groups, facilities, DDIT RED and broader DDIT organization.

External service providers include among others, service providers for scientific, process & manufacturing applications; Legal, audit and compliance representatives from Novo Nordisk; Novo IT groups for infrastructure, network, security, application, and user related activities. Novo IT for coordination on the corporate platforms rolled-out at Research Centers.

Essential Functions

Project Management:Initiate new business and IT projectsPlanning and coordination of the project deliverables and project team on a day-to-day basis, and act as the central resource for team communicationLead project scope and deliverables definition in concert with project champion and key stakeholdersAccountable for the documentation, communication, and mitigation strategy development for risks to schedule, scope, resources, budget, and quality. In coordination with project champion, conducts start-up meeting with project team to identify roles and responsibilitiesManage projects – experience and ability to use both waterfall and SAFE agile methodologies:From Idea phase to Realize phase according to ITPMM (waterfall)According to the scale agile framework (SAFE) to provide fast value for the businessEnsure the projects are aligned with relevant IT Security requirements, as well as business requirementsEnsure projects progress according to project schedule, scope and budgetMitigate or minimize business and system riskManage interdependencies between the project and other initiativesProject resource planning, including participation in recruitment of internal and external participants for projects in programResponsible for direction setting in project and securing productive working climate in the projectDesign and execute efficient change managementManages small to mid-size projects containing some complexity and global/senior stakeholder management requirementsCommunicate frequently, providing project status to all stakeholdersBusiness transformation:Ensure business case realization with global business impact and support for innovative initiatives with profound business ramificationsProject governance and steering:Prepare and present project status for various committees including the Steering CommitteesTimely escalation of issues to stakeholders and Steering Committee for resolutionAdherence to Novo Nordisk quality management systemPreparation of project documentation according to standards and guidelinesPeople management (project teams):Works independently and might mentor/coach project coordinatorsProvide input to target setting and continuously feedback to project membersAct as Novo Nordisk Way role modelDelegate roles and responsibilities within the project teamsResolve project team conflicts, resource needs and requests Physical Requirements The Job is based in Lexington, Massachusetts and requires full time, onsite presence. Over time there is a possibility of hybrid work, especially on Mondays and Fridays, though this is not guaranteed based on the nature of projects being worked on. Up to 5% overnight travel should be expected. Primarily in relation to coordination with teams in Boulder Colorado, DK/EU, or other locations. QualificationsBachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experienceProject Management Courses or documented PM track record preferredExperience in using common project management tools (MS Project or others) and stays updated on project management tools and working methodsFinds solutions to problems arising in medium complexity projectsAbility to establish cross organizational collaborationDemonstrate proactive stakeholder management at varying levelsFamiliarity with authoring or reviewing SOP's and system operation guidesSAFe agile educated and experience from undertaking one or several agile roles is preferredTechnical, Practical and/or management experience with systems under GxP regulations in pharma/biotech Life Sciences is a plus
