Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

The incumbent will be responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and executing actionable Regional Sustainment Strategy (RSS) opportunities in support of integrating all tools of national power with the robust network of allies and partners, Industry, and the Services that the U.S.

has to credibly deter aggression, also known as "Integrated deterrence".

Frequently engages Operational Headquarters, the Services, and other Departments and Agencies, and as an active participant in developing policy and plans as it relates to logistics operations in support of on-going operations or planning for future contingency operations.

Develops executable plans and actions for all logistics aspects of contingency and regional sustainment operations (deployment, redeployment/drawdown and post conflict).

The incumbent will be expected to connect operational and tactical level actions with overall Department level strategic implications.
The conduct of duties requires access to special sensitive information.

In addition to operational logistics, the incumbent will possess an understanding of international logistics processes and policies from front end concept exploration through translation into RSS plans, policy guidance, delivery, and support to the implementation of DoD components worldwide.
