The Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) for Business Management and Planning is a Deputy Assistant Secretary level equivalent position.

As such, the DCIO serves as a key member of the Department of State's Chief Information Officer's leadership team and reports to the Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer.


Key duties include:


Providing executive oversight and policy direction to four domestic offices: the Office of eDiplomacy; the Office of Strategy, Planning and Budget; the Office of Information Technology Acquisitions; and the Strategic Workforce Planning Unit.

Providing leadership, oversight, and direction for the IT Capital Planning program that is used to oversee and report on the Department's $2.8B budget for IT and cybersecurity investments.

Carrying out a wide variety of highly visible and complex assignments in these areas and collaborate with Department stakeholders and other interested parties to define and satisfy IRM requirements for key IT programs and projects.
