About the Job

Position Summary

The Sponsored Student Database Coordinator is in charge of creating, maintaining and reporting key metrics to the ISSS Sponsored Student Associate Director and relevant leadership across the University. Sponsored students have specific non UMN requirements they must complete to be in compliance with their scholarship MOU and agreements.

Particularly this database coordinator must have an understanding of the experiences of international students who are sponsored students and must utilize their understanding of that experience in creating sponsored student friendly databases and data collection tools.

The Sponsored Student team fields requests from sponsoring organizations for particular data points that utilize systems throughout campus. This position will assist in streamlining regular occurring requests.

Pay Rate: $24.27/hr

A. Identify, document and prioritize functional reporting and analytics requirements including key performance metrics and measurement regarding sponsored student engagement, requirements and relevant reportable data to both internal campus partners and external agencies.
B. Design, develop and build reporting using the appropriate tool set and following established
methodology.
C. Follow standards set around data visualizations of Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
D. Perform data analysis, data mining to identify challenges in opportunities to advance sponsored student area
E. Collaborate with customer in their validation/acceptance of reports
F. Interact with executives, supervisor, customers and reporting team members to ensure that specified business needs are met; assists in the post-implementation analysis to ensure the requirements are fulfilled
G. Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, with an eye on what drives organizational performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity to stakeholders


Qualifications

Requirements:
-BA or BS in computer science, business management, and/or data sciences with 1 year of experience managing data analysis
-Knowledge of Python, Tableau, or other systems for data management/analysis
-Knowledge of sponsored student requirements
-Cross cultural leadership skills and communication skills
-Ability to work in a diverse team

Preferred Qualifications:
-Demonstrated organizational skills, decision-making & problem-solving abilities
-Ability to take directives from multiple staff members
-Computer experience with MS Word, Excel, zoom, and Google Calendar
-Having the experience of being an international UMN sponsored student or working with a sponsoring agency that works with the UMN
