Job Summary:

As a Technical Fellow in the Software Engineering organization, you will be an integral part of helping us further our vision to be the global leader in next-generation solutions for the warfighter. We are looking for senior technologists with deep expertise in DevSecOps and Cloud-native architecture capable of working across multiple programs and pursuits. Technical Fellows provide technical leadership and guidance, and this individual will specifically help drive improvements and the maturity of our DevSecOps processes and use of cloud-native architecture in real-time embedded systems. This person is responsible for assessing, designing, securing, and optimizing DevSecOps solutions and the deployment of lean principles, practices, tools, and technologies (including platforms, frameworks, and services) that enable consistent, verifiable, and automated management of software and firmware applications, executable simulations, and infrastructure resources between production and non-production environments.

This position is an onsite role and can be located in Tewksbury MA, Tucson AZ, El Segundo CA, or Richardson TX.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provide technical leadership in support of the successful application of lean thinking, DevSecOps practices and pipelines, and cloud-native architecture across pursuits and programs, contributing to proposal development and execution.
  • Collaborate with other technical and business leaders to formulate and develop technical strategies and roadmaps related to DevSecOps and Cloud-native architectures.
  • Conduct innovative research and development (IRAD and CRAD) related to new DevSecOps and cloud-native technologies.
  • Support training and mentoring to help grow and strengthen our organizational capabilities.
  • Serve as a DevSecOps and cloud-native subject matter expert (SME) in internal and external discussions and reviews.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of Lean principles and will be comfortable working in multidisciplinary agile groups of engineers and business leaders focused on applying state of the art software development approaches and architectures. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated the interdisciplinary breadth needed to integrate concepts from other fields to improve mission performance in areas such as radar, command and control, undersea sensing, autonomous vehicles, effectors, logistics and sustainment, and Cyber.

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years of prior work experience
  • Technical Leadership experience leading teams involving hardware and/or software systems,
  • Experience with agile methods and DevSecOps
  • Experience performing value stream mapping (VSM) analysis
  • Author of intellectual property (patent disclosures) or conference/journal publications in a Software Engineering technical area within the past ten (10) years.
  • Internal candidates must be a fellow to qualify
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in STEM. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Experience with conflict resolution techniques and incremental change management
  • Experience applying Lean Thinking and Systems Thinking in large organizations
  • Experience in the following technical areas:
    • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
    • Designing, improving, and implementing build, test, and deployment pipelines
    • Improving CI/CD pipeline stability, reliability, and speed
    • Software assurance, static/dynamic analysis, and secure coding
    • Cloud native architectures and technologies, including containers and container orchestration and alternatives to these (e.g., WebAssembly)
    • Embedded software development/deployment
    • Version control tools (particularly Git) and associated workflows
    • Knowledge of Jenkins or other CI orchestration tools
    • Developing, testing, and integrating real-time software
    • C/C++ or similar high order language
    • Software/hardware/firmware integration
  • Experience and background in other key software development technologies, to include in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), data science and analytics, game theory, intelligent agents, and related techniques is desirable
  • Experience with embedded real-time and/or high-performance computing environments, including use of GPUs, neuromorphic computing, and cloud-based development
  • Experience across the software lifecycle, including architecture definition, design, implementation, integration and test of complex systems
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry, ideally with kinetic and non-kinetic effectors, radar or sonar technologies, command and control systems, cyber defense, DoD mission areas, and/or related capabilities.
