Job Title:Operator C

Summary:Responsible for the proper transfer of chemicals/materials within the plant and monitoring control panel functions per operating instructions specific to the process while ensuring safety and environmental controls.

Responsibilities Include:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (essential to the position)

1)Loading and unloading of final product, raw materials and waste streams via tank truck, drums, sacks or other types of container

2)Records operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operator's logbook, per procedure.

3)Obtain material samples for laboratory analysis using proper safety measures

4)Handling of drums using drum dolly or forklifts. Unless excused for medical reasons.

5) Moving of trailers safely with Yard Mule. Unless excused for medical reasons.

6) Handling plant utilities, including, but not limited to: Hot Oil System Cooling Water Tower Process Water Chiller System Nitrogen Tanks Flare System Furnaces Boilers

7) Complete understanding and demonstrated knowledge of all Safety and Emergency Procedures 8) Maintain efficient working knowledge of the plant's shutdown and startup procedures

9) Monitor inventory of raw materials and ensure accurate recording all necessary data on transfers

10) Dismantle and clean filtering equipment, as needed per procedure.

11) Understanding and the management of Environmental Procedures

12) General housekeeping in process areas and operating areas

13) Wash and rinse reactors

14) Regulate the flow of steam, air or oil

15)Operate equipment to adjust speed of chemical reactions or yields

16) Report spills or dangerous conditions

17) Draw samples of product

18) Patrol tanks and troughs to ensure they are not overflowing and enter in logbook.

19) Use steam to defrost frozen valves per procedure.

20) Operate and test towers, soap-spray vessels, storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors and driers 21) Ensure chemicals are stored properly per procedure and SDS

22) Must have taken and successfully passed the mPD Unit Tests and been signed off by Supervision.

23) Must be able to LOTO per plant procedures

24)Communicate safety concerns with management by participating in safety team meetings and other means (concern reports, etc.)

25) Understand and execute life critical systems such as LOTO.

26) Basic understanding of LEAN, 5S and GEMBA

27) Initial and ongoing training of new hire personnel.

28) Promotion to this level is contingent on review by Operations Panel which includes (Lead Operator, Day Lead, Day Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Engineering and Site Leader)

Note: All "C" Tier operators will be reviewed annually at a minimum. The Lead Operator(s), Day Lead, Day Supervisor or Operations Supervisor have the ability and latitude to nominate any Operations Personnel for review at any time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform other duties, as assigned May be assisting with other units or process, as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports to the Shift Supervisor

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

High School Diploma

2 Year Degree or B.A. or B.S. Advanced Degree
or GED or 5 Years Experience Business School

Preferred Areas of Experience/Education:
Operator Training Certification from a college or technical school and three to six months related experience as an operator and/or operations training.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and address employee and customer complaints effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
