Zurich E&S is currently looking for a Regional Underwriting Manager for our E&S Casualty team. E&S Casualty is a new team that combines the Zurich E&S Excess Casualty team with the new Zurich E&S Primary Casualty team. We are looking to hire in Dallas, Houston, or Chicago for our Midwest/Central Regional Underwriting Manager. The position is a critical role in driving a diversified, dynamic, and engaging team culture. This position also requires strong technical acumen in underwriting casualty risks in the E&S segment, experience in overseeing and developing underwriting talent, the ability to manage complex processes, strong wholesale producer engagement and sales skills and a demonstrated ability of profitable portfolio management.

This E&S Casualty Manager position will be responsible for:

  • Developing, coaching, and managing a high-performing regional team of both Primary and Excess Casualty underwriting staff.
  • Managing regional performance, including new business production, policy count retention, rate/tiering execution, and portfolio management actions relative to Plan
  • Managing regional wholesale broker relationships, managing underwriter referrals, and maintaining a small production portfolio to stay attune with regional market changes and desk-level challenges.

The E&S Casualty Regional Manager position will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (25%).

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area

    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

    AND
  • 2 or more years of management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in E&S excess and primary casualty
  • Wholesale broker relationships across the Midwest/Central Zone
  • CPCU
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Results oriented
