Job Description: Senior Commercial Property Underwriter

Overview: We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Property Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Commercial Property Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, analyzing, and underwriting complex commercial property risks. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining profitability and driving growth within our commercial property insurance portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Underwriting: Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial property risks in accordance with established underwriting guidelines, authority limits, and company policies.
  • Analysis and Decision Making: Analyze property values, location, construction, occupancy, loss history, and other relevant data to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and agents to achieve profitable business growth while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Policy Review: Review insurance policies, endorsements, and amendments to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting standards.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage the performance of the commercial property portfolio, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders including claims, risk control, and legal departments to ensure comprehensive risk management and customer satisfaction.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay informed about market conditions, industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks impacting commercial property underwriting.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough and accurate underwriting files and documentation. Prepare reports and summaries as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial property underwriting.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of commercial property insurance products, underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex risks and develop effective underwriting strategies.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate and influence stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and across departments.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPCU) preferred.
