The Credit Analyst II plays a crucial role in evaluating and providing an independent assessment of risk factors associated with intricate financial structures and transactions pertaining to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Corporate Enterprises. This position is integral to the credit risk management process, ensuring the maintenance of credit quality within the assigned portfolio by monitoring trends, resolving exceptions, and delivering informed recommendations and credit solutions aligned with the risk profile of each relationship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize financial spreading software to analyze financial statements and prepare comprehensive credit approval packages in accordance with bank policies.
- Conduct thorough reviews of the financial health and operational performance of commercial and corporate entities for new and existing loan exposures, including modifications of terms.
- Provide objective assessments of risk factors linked to various credit facilities, including revolving lines of credit and asset-based loans, and recommend appropriate conditions to mitigate risk.
- Meet the expectation of completing at least one complex financial analysis weekly with high accuracy, while identifying loan policy exceptions and industry-specific risks.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to enhance the quality of underwriting information and serve as a consultant on credit-related issues.
- Act as a resource for business lines and engage with senior management on various credit matters as needed.
- Support the training of new credit analysts and interns, guiding them in departmental procedures and credit analysis formats.
- Identify and recommend measures to mitigate potential risks to earnings or capital, ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies.
- Ensure adherence to regulations related to BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and other AML issues.
- Participate in committees and external organizations representing the Credit Services Unit and the bank.
- Assist in loan structuring and review legal covenants in line with bank policies, collaborating with various bank units as necessary.
- Work with Portfolio Management to oversee the administration and renewal of upcoming maturities, modifications, and risk rating processes.
- Conduct analysis and underwriting support for portfolio managers, ensuring compliance with credit underwriting policies.
- Utilize software systems for loan originations, modifications, and annual reviews, preparing necessary documentation and presentations.
- Perform annual reviews of existing credit relationships, recommending changes in risk ratings and monitoring compliance with loan covenants.
- Oversee the assigned portfolio for compliance with bank policies regarding credit and documentation exceptions, recommending actions as needed.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as required, reporting findings appropriately.
- Engage in ongoing training and seminars to stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends.
Education and Certification Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance is required; a Master's degree is preferred, or 3+ years of commercial credit analysis experience may be considered in lieu of education. Formal credit training is essential.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in lending or credit analysis is required, with a solid understanding of banking products and documentation.
Essential Knowledge:
A comprehensive understanding of the bank's credit procedures, accounting principles, and credit policies is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required, and experience with Salesforce, nCino, or FIS IBS is advantageous. Strong time management, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities are essential.
