The Credit Analyst II at Amerantbank plays a crucial role in delivering a thorough, unbiased evaluation and recommendations regarding risk elements tied to substantial, intricate structures and transactions linked to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Corporate Entities. This position is essential in supporting credit risk management and ensuring the maintenance of credit quality for the assigned portfolio by observing relationship trends, resolving exceptions, accurately assessing credit risk, and proposing suitable recommendations and credit solutions aligned with the relationship's risk profile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize financial spreading software to analyze financial statements, preparing a detailed analysis and credit approval package in accordance with Bank credit policies.
- Conduct meticulous reviews and evaluations of the financial health and operational performance of commercial and corporate entities for new loan applications, existing loans, and modifications.
- Provide an impartial assessment of risk factors associated with various credit structures, including revolving lines of credit and asset-based facilities, while making recommendations on conditions and covenants to adequately evaluate the associated risks.
- Achieve the goal of completing at least one extensive financial analysis weekly with high accuracy, identifying loan policy exceptions and industry-specific risks with appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to enhance the quality of underwriting information and act as a consultant on credit-related matters.
- Serve as a resource for business lines and engage with senior management on various issues as necessary.
- Assist in training new credit analysts and interns, guiding them in departmental procedures and credit analysis formats.
- Identify, assess, and recommend actions to mitigate any current or potential risks to earnings or capital due to noncompliance with laws, regulations, or internal policies.
- Ensure compliance with current regulations and internal policies regarding risks associated with BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and other AML-related matters.
- Participate in various committees and external organizations, representing the Credit Services Unit and the Bank.
- Support the loan structuring process and review legal covenants in alignment with Bank policies.
- Work closely with Portfolio Management to administer, monitor, and renew upcoming maturities, processing modifications and identifying potential issues within the portfolio.
- Assist in underwriting and analysis, providing support for new business activities and preparing necessary documentation for Relationship Managers.
- Operate software systems for loan originations, modifications, and annual reviews.
- Conduct annual reviews of existing credit relationships, recommending changes in risk ratings as appropriate.
- Monitor the assigned portfolio for compliance with Bank policies regarding credit, collateral, and documentation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as required, reporting findings as necessary.
- Attend training sessions to stay updated on changing regulations and industry trends.
Educational and Certification Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance is required, with a Master's degree preferred or 3+ years of commercial credit analysis experience in lieu of education. Formal credit training is essential.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in lending and/or credit analysis, with a solid understanding of banking products and documentation.
Essential Knowledge:
A comprehensive understanding of the Bank's credit procedures, programs, and policies is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Experience with Salesforce, nCino, and FIS IBS is advantageous. Strong time management, organizational skills, and communication abilities are essential.
