ERL is seeking a Product Development and Production Manager within the luxury and premium apparel, footwear and accessories categories to join our team in Venice Beach. Must have a proven track record in developing, implementing and delivering on strategic product initiatives while maximizing executional efficiencies and profitability. The ideal candidate will have an established history manufacturing in Los Angeles and skilled in resourceful speed to market with commercial and innovative technical expertise. In this role you will be responsible for managing the production process from ideation to execution working directly with the Design Director and Executive Team.
Responsibilities
- Source and lead supplier relationships that ensure adherence to brand aesthetic, product development, delivery timelines, quality control, and cost expectations.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of existing suppliers and source new suppliers that offer competitive pricing and quality products in line with margin requirements and order volumes.
- Create processes and structures that enhance our ERL manufacturing organization, communication, and effectiveness.
- Support brand initiatives to expand into new product categories with sourcing solutions.
- Establish and implement a comprehensive product development and production calendar.
- Partner and collaborate with the Design team to ensure on-time tech pack development and fabric, color and trim approvals.
- Deliver properly executed garment prototypes for design fittings and ensure corrections are communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and follow up on the Time and Action calendar for fit protos, PPS/TOP samples, color, print and wash standards, trim commitments, and inspection to ensure timely delivery
- Engineer and negotiate garment costs to ensure retail and margin targets are met
- Build and maintain cost logs that identify product development fees and services as well as product manufacturing costs, ensuring costing and margin targets are met across all styles.
- Draft and issue purchase orders and manage all vendor communication and adherence to the agreed upon outcomes.
- Maintain Work in Progress (WIP) to ensure leadership team's visibility from ideation to production completion.
- Ensure all administrative tasks, invoices, and reporting are up to date.
Qualifications- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proven experience sourcing and manufacturing in Los Angeles.
- History with managing supplier relationships and production timelines.
- Expertise in costing management including supplier negotiation and final cost recording.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing production calendars.
- Ability to continuously improve processes and structures.
- Experience in drafting purchase orders and managing vendor communication.
- Familiarity with production tracking and sample approval processes.
- Problem-solving skills for addressing production and quality issues.
- Knowledge of production requirements and standards.
- Capability to manage administrative tasks and reporting efficiently
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
