Job Summary and Qualifications

The Stroke Program Coordinator is responsible for managing, developing and implementing Alaska Regional's Stroke Program. The Stroke Program is a highly qualified, expert clinician who possesses advanced stroke knowledge and has demonstrated strong critical thinking skills. The Stroke Program Coordinator collaborates with nursing leadership and the Education Department to develop and implement staff education and makes regular rounds on stroke patients to evaluate the treatment plan and nursing interventions.

The Stroke Program Coordinator supports the mission, vision statements and goals of Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH). The Stroke Program Coordinator facilitates interventions to meet patients' physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural and educational needs; coordinates functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships. The Stroke Program Coordinator must possess excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills. Serving as role model, mentor, educator, and evaluator regarding stroke patient care for the staff is essential.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • Current Alaska Registered Nurse License
  • A minimum of three years of direct nursing experience in acute medical/surgical or ED neurological nursing
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
