The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Records and Information Management Specialist responsible for providing technical guidance for records management in support of EOUST and 89 field offices throughout the country. The position provides oversight of a component-level records management program that fulfills the requirements of 44 U.S.C. § 3101 and the Department of Justice records management program, (DOJ Order , Records Management).

The typical duties of this Records and Information Management Specialist GS position include but are not limited to:
  • Provide records management expertise to subject matter experts when creating records retention policies and guidance.
  • Advise senior officials on records management program disciplines and identifies procedures and methodologies that improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the life cycle management (creations, retention, maintenance, processing, use, access, release,
    safeguarding, declassification, and final disposition) of DOJ and USTP records and documentation.
  • Analyze business processes to provide recommendations to improve workflow and create efficiencies through the automated tools, systems, and technology.
  • Works with IT on electronic record keeping requirements, records management applications, as well as the technology challenges of accessing and maintaining records over time.
  • Serve as the primary consultant and advisor for USTP on all Records Management activities.
  • Review completed work to assure proper coordination, technical adequacy of decisions, conclusions, and recommendations, and timely completion.
  • Provide training and presentations to field staff on records management issues.
  • Develop and implement policy and program guidance which supports the integration and synchronization of records management across USTP.
  • Develop Electronic Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and directives.
  • Prepare presentations for leadership and field office staff on records management issues.

      Qualifications

      To qualify for the position of RECORDS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at (GS , you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.

      If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

      Specialized experience at the GS-14 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector maintaining and monitoring a records and information management program consistent with governing statutes.
