Role Overview:


The Deputy Director of Registrations manages all aspects of the department's interactions with System Tracking and Record Support (STARS) in conjuction with BMV Information Technology Department (ITD).

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring agency approved and IT developed programming changes are tested and approved prior to implementation.

The Deputy Director of Registrations reports directly to the Executive Director of Titles and Registrations.

Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00.

A Day in the Life:

  • Identifies gaps between BMV registration processes and system defects;
  • Identifies improvements and/or issues with the Bureau's operating system regarding vehicle and watercraft registration transactions;
  • Works directly with ITD and other departments on system enhancements;
  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding transactional processes in all operating systems.
  • In collaboration with registration compliance and operations director(s), will craft user stories and/or features regarding system improvement initiatives and manage them throughout the development process.
  • Participates and contributes in Titles and Registrations and/or other department meetings;
  • Serve as the departments liaison to IT to manage and communicate operating system changes;
  • Analyzes data for trends and opportunities for improvement;
  • Collaborates with other lines of business to ensure all points of view are considered before making decisions;
  • Responds to calls, emails, and constituent inquiries.
  • Represents the BMV in a positive and professional manner; and
  • Performs related tasks as required

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the mission, policies and multiple functions and responsibilities of the Bureau
  • Extensive knowledge of title and registration processing;
  • Working knowledge of agency organization and policies and procedures;
  • Ability to interpret complex guidelines;
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing;
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email systems, and STARS;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle difficult situations
  • Demonstrates ability to deal effectively with conflict resolution
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and delegate tasks effectively to staff
  • Ability to make decisions and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
