The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer.

IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.


Role Overview:
The Deputy Director of VMWare & Storage manages several major teams within the Indiana Office of Technology. These teams manage some of the most critical infrastructures for the State, including our Storage and VMware environments.

Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Manages the day to day operations of the IOT VMware and Storage teams by monitoring performance, configuration, maintenance and repair;
  • Assists the IT Director in developing current and long range direction of technology in accordance with the direction of the agency;
  • Assists the IT Director in setting policies and procedures, technical standards and methods and priorities for information systems activities;
  • Supervise or provide direction to functional managers and supervisors and department staff;
  • Dispenses technical advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures;
  • Analyzes new technologies and makes recommendations;
  • May represents the agency's information technology division at events and meetings
  • Assists in the budgeting process with agency senior management for the information technology division;
  • Performs related duties as required.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Knowledge of VMware and storage solutions
  • Broad knowledge of all information technology disciplines and general business theory;
  • Thorough knowledge of the organization and management of the state agency's operations;
  • Considerable knowledge of the organization and management of state government;
  • Ability to negotiate complex and large sum agreements with other agencies, divisions and outside vendors;
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to frame issues based on the policy implications associated with managing what is otherwise a very technical discipline.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
