Job Description
The Associate Director of Annual Giving will work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Communications and Engagement (AVP) to plan and implement effective annual giving strategies and craft inspiring story-telling messages for the Office of Advancement. Strategies will engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward UIndy alumni, friends and other targeted constituents to meet the financial and participation goals of the Office of Advancement. The Associate Director will be a key team member in helping to develop and execute successful multi-channel communication strategies to acquire new donors and increase giving levels of current donors.

Primary responsibilities include writing and preparing content for direct mail solicitations, email solicitations, crowdfunding campaigns/giving days, videos, and social media; coordinating annual giving projects from concept to completion, managing the Student Advancement Ambassadors, and assisting with data preparation for solicitations.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

0-3 years of experience in writing and creating print and digital communications. Fundraising and work experience within a non-profit organization preferred.
Bachelor's Degree required (English, communications, public relations, marketing or related field preferred)
Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
Strong project management and multi-tasking skills, with a high attention to detail.
Possess strong copywriting and editing skills.
Can work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for phonathon and special events.
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, Google docs and sheets. Experience working in email marketing platforms, CRMs, GiveCampus, Thankview, or other fundraising platforms preferred.
Knowledge of principles, practices and ethics of fundraising preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the day-to-day operations of approximately 5 student employees and student supervisors (Student Advancement Ambassadors) who communicate with alumni and donors of the University through phone, email, and video.
Work with AVP to create and implement a segmented multi-channel communication plan utilizing direct mail, email, phone, video, social media and web content.
Write and design UIndy Fund direct mail appeals and email solicitations.
Manage direct mail and email appeals from concept to completion, including data requests, design creation, collaborating with the Office of Marketing and Communications, and coordinating mailing details with the mail house/vendors.
With the assistance of the AVP, plan and execute two major giving days including UIndy Day and Giving Tuesday, and other crowdfunding campaigns that may arise.
Engage and excite alumni volunteers and the campus community in preparation for UIndy Day.
Effectively use storytelling to craft compelling donor-centric fundraising messages and videos.
Collaborate with the AVP and Advancement Services staff to pull donor giving data and lists from Raiser's Edge for analysis, solicitation, and stewardship purposes.
Collaborate with the Advancement Engagement Team to develop and manage a Student Ambassador Program aimed to educate the student body about the importance of philanthropy (includes a UIndy Day Student Ambassador program).
Assist with the promotion of other advancement initiatives such as the license plate program, new employee orientations, and employer matching gift program.
Collaborate with Alumni & Donor Engagement, Advancement, and Athletic staff to maintain an integrated communication calendar.
Participate in key Advancement events such as Homecoming, UIndy Day, and Philanthropy Lunch.
