Under the supervision of the Asset Protection Manager, the Analyst II, Asset Protection will play a key role in achieving the Asset Protection Department's mission of protecting CarMax's associates, assets, and Culture of Integrity by maintaining a comprehensive analytics and reporting program to support Asset Protection. The position will work closely with the home office and field Asset Protection team in supporting investigative and operational analysis and data reporting needs. This position will also work closely with operational management and product teams on high impact initiatives.

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

  • Apply analytical strategies to develop, maintain and continuously improve analytic and reporting programs to identify, mitigate, and prevent risks of loss or harm to CarMax.
  • Develop new capabilities and assist in administrating SalesforceManagement environment.
  • Continuously evaluate methods of data collection and maintenance and make recommendations for improvements where appropriate.
  • Deliver and support regular reports to Asset Protection and partners.
  • Provide training and service to Asset Protection and other teams to develop reporting and analysis capabilities.
  • Perform and present ROI analysis for Asset Protection initiatives.
  • Consult and collaborate with Field, Home Office, and CAF management staff members on risk mitigation initiatives. Support data integration and develop and manage analytical triggers for Fraud Platform and other systems.
  • Provide investigative and operational support for Asset Protection and other functions as requested.

Purpose of the role

The Analyst II, Asset Protection play a key role in protecting CarMax's Associates, Assets and Culture of Integrity by developing systems, reporting, modeling and investigative analytical support for the Asset Protection department and other important partners. The role is paramount in managing, preventing, detecting and mitigating external and internal fraud and theft risks, as well as providing analytics in support of new company initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in analytical and or mathematical field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer-based applications, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with relational databases – Oracle and SQL preferred
  • Experience in SQL and Python or R for data manipulation, analysis and automation preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce administration, Salesforce Administration Certificate preferred.
  • Experience developing reporting in PowerBI, SSRS and/or Tableau preferred.
  • 1-year experience in fraud investigation, Audit, Asset Protection or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple complex/cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must have excellent organization skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong judgement and general analytical skills.
  • Operate effectively and drive for results in challenging conditions.
  • Ability to multi-task, support competing priorities including the need to support investigations or reporting needs that may arise without notice.
  • Understand latest analytical tools and their potential impact for CarMax.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and collaborate with other departments and teams.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both orally and written to provide the appropriate level of support, communication of issues and resolutions, to all levels of staff and management.
  • Project management experience preferred.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Home Office and have a Hybrid work arrangement.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
