About Global Supply Management

Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping AMEX maximize the purchasing power of over $7B of third party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end to end procurement services. We maximize the purchasing power of the Company to drive the best value from our supplier base which then frees up investment capacity for the Blue Box. GSM together with our business partners manages the supplier strategy for the Company, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation relating to working with GCP and GMS to increase billings and merchant coverage and ensuring an optimal user experience for AMEX employees and suppliers.

Position Summary:

Within the Source to Contract team the Sourcing Manager will develop and execute the most effective negotiation plans for agreements of varying complexity in alignment with the GSM Category Management team and other SMEs and stakeholders, delivering maximum value to the business through the contracting process. The role is expected to discover, understand and apply best in class contracting process insights and experience in the pursuit of driving supply opportunities at competitive cost and high quality. The role is responsible for building and maintaining stakeholder relationships with the business, across peer groups, contract stakeholders including General Counsel, Third Party Lifecycle Management, Tax, Compliance, Insurance, in multiple markets, act as the point of escalation for third party contract negotiations and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain business trusted advisor relationships to implement category strategy (e.g., influence requirements, shape demand, advise business how to capture the most value from supplier relations); with a customer first mindset and strategy. Lead the sourcing process (RFI, RFP, RFQ) in alignment with the category strategy.Develop and implement sourcing strategy, negotiate with suppliers and partner with contract managers on contract strategy and execution. Identify opportunities and strategic solutions across multiple business teams to enable the business while benefiting the enterprise.Develop commercial deal framework and key business terms sheet and partner with Contract Strategy & Execution team on end-to end negotiation plan and contract execution.Enable strategic supplier relationship management through partnering with the Category Management team on short, mid and long term deliverables.Where required on key strategic projects: Provide clear and regular status updates to business partners and Category Managers.Develop negotiation strategies with business and the category teams including plan (e.g., wants, must-haves, trade-offs), timeline, roles and scriptsDevelopment of strategy on best practices around supplier and services based on both internal conditions and plans as well as industry trends. This includes but is not limited to price, scope, performance and right sourcing.Manage end to end plan from requirements through contract execution.Manage overall relationship with customer and suppliers during and after sourcing exercise; significant involvement around strategic and critical suppliers.Leverage industry and internal data collection to feed into strategy and benchmark analysis.Leverage industry research to determine solution and price competitiveness as well as supplier capability.Develop and own end-to-end negotiation plans; execute negotiation process of varying complexity, driving commercial and legal terms and conditions and value opportunities – in partnership with Contract Management teamAbility to travel 10%Qualifications:B.S. / B. A. Minimum of 8 years of relevant business experienceProcurement/sourcing process knowledge; Experience negotiating with the following types of suppliers a plus: technology related commodities including Hardware, Software, Hosting, Telecom and IT LaborPassion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line resultsExperience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams Outstanding relationship management skills able to become a true business partner and a trusted advisorExecutive presence and ability to work with colleagues and suppliers at all levelsExcellent people skills, including relationship management, communication, negotiation, influencing, planning, presentation and motivationCollaborative and team mindset Ability to manage day-to-day business priorities along with long-term strategic deliverablesPositive attitude, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
