JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Chassis/Electrical Engineering, this role is responsible for leading advanced mechanical design projects, you will drive the development and optimization of complex systems and components. At the core, you must have the ability to integrate cutting-edge technologies and engineering principles to ensure exceptional product quality and performance. You will oversee the entire design process from concept to production, ensuring compliance with all company standards and industry regulations. In addition, you would be required to develop project deliverables including cost, timing, risks and issues and report out on key projects weekly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the mechanical design team in developing innovative solutions for new and existing products
  • Oversee the creation and review of detailed engineering drawings and specifications for mechanical components and systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential design issues and develop mitigation strategies
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Utilize advanced CAD software to create 3D models and simulations to validate design concepts.
  • Perform detailed analyses, including FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), to optimize design performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate and manage prototyping activities, including the fabrication and testing of prototype parts and assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies throughout the design process.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and design reviews to stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication of design decisions and project status.
  • Support the sourcing and qualification of suppliers and vendors for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Drive best practices in thermal engineering regarding Battery thermal management, air conditioning and heater design
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and industry trends.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of design best practices and process improvements.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical forums.
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering
    • 3+ years in a senior or lead role
    • 5+ years' experience in Thermal
  • EV knowledge is a plus but not mandatory
