Summary This position is located in Region II, Division of Reactor Projects, Branch 2, Vogtle 3 & 4, Waynesboro, GA The supervisor is Alan Blamey.

This position is Non Bargaining Unit. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure Reporting requirements. This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements. Resident Inspector salary is based on Table 9-A. The relocation incentive for this location is 20%. Responsibilities The successful candidate will perform the full range of Senior Resident Inspector (PWR/TL) duties.


Duties include but are not limited to: 1.Conducting in-depth inspections and investigations to assure compliance with design specifications and the conditions of the operating license.

2.Serving as the lead NRC inspector assigned to the Vogtle 3&4 Nuclear Station.

3.Ensuring that the inspection program is completed in accordance with schedules specified in the Inspection Manual or other official documents.

4.Planning the scope of inspections at assigned plant.

5.Overseeing the preparation of inspection reports that describe observations made and conclusions reached regarding the licensee's safety performance and conformance with NRC requirements, provisions of the operating licensees, and applicable industry codes and standards.

6.Providing technical and programmatic leadership to a small staff by coordinating and managing their work and reviewing and evaluating technical findings and conclusions.

Individual must be a fully qualified inspector in accordance with Manual Chapter 1245. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a Drug Testing position. The security clearance level for this position is LH.

Geographic mobility is a condition of employment for selection under this announcement.

Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Knowledge of nuclear power plant operations, systems, integrated facility operations, and design consistent with that gained through assignment as a resident inspector.

2. Ability to observe, evaluate, and assess the operations of nuclear power plants including events. 3.

Ability to apply NRC rules, regulations, policies, guides and review plans in the review or inspection of reactor operations, maintenance, engineering and plant support.

4. Ability to lead, train, and assess performance of other assigned inspectors and part-time office administrative assistant. 5. Ability to present technical information both orally and in writing.

In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as:

Experience that demonstrates your ability to implement the NRC regulatory program, including application of NRC standards, and rules and regulations for nuclear facilities.

Strong knowledge of basic nuclear technology, operating safety procedures, radiological safety, codes, standards, and procedures is also required.

Education A bachelor's degree or higher degree in a relevant professional engineering discipline e.g.,(nuclear, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, civil, structural, mechanical) from a school of engineering with at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

If you do not possess such a professional engineering degree, you may still satisfy the professional knowledge requirements if you have current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in one of the relevant disciplines from any U.S.

State or Territory, or if you successfully passed an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) written examination administered by a State Board of Engineering Examiners; or if you have either a related professional degree or at least 60 semester hours of specified engineering-related college courses combined with at least a year of professional engineering work experience performed under professional engineer or nuclear power plant work experience.

Additional Information The duty location of this position is Waynesboro, GA.

Project-based telework schedules of generally up to 8 hours per week may be approved, in accordance with Agency policy and current Resident Inspector Telework Guidance.

Based on the staffing needs of the agency/area of consideration, additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement.

Resident/Senior Resident Inspectors may be eligible for the Resident Inspector Program Group Retention Incentive as approved on December 1, 2023.

The amount of the retention incentive is 15 percent of adjusted basic pay, including any locality or special rate, to be paid annually and subject to annual review and approval.
