Certified Medical Aide

Exceptional Staffing Solutions is seeking a Registered Medical Aide (RMA) dedicated to providing compassionate care for our elderly clientele. In this role, you will be entrusted with the safe administration of medications while adhering to regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will also encompass assisting patients with daily living activities, mobility support, and nutritional needs. It is essential that candidates possess experience in geriatric care, along with a nurturing demeanor, physical endurance, and strong communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient support under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
- Exhibit proficiency in medication knowledge and administration methods.
- Administer medications accurately following the unit dose system.
- Complete medication administration within the required timeframe, ensuring accuracy.
- Maintain daily documentation of medication administration records.
- Understand medication classifications and effectively communicate their purpose and effects to patients.
- Provide appropriate information while refraining from offering medical advice or diagnoses.
- Utilize medical terminology correctly in medication administration.
- Adhere to proper procedures for medication preparation and treatment administration, ensuring aseptic techniques.
- Secure and store all medications in compliance with regulations.
- Keep the medication cart in view at all times and ensure it is locked when unattended.
- Document any medication errors and report them to the supervising nurse.
- Recognize and uphold Residents' Rights regarding medication and treatment confidentiality.
- Provide personal and nursing care as outlined in individual care plans.
- Respond to resident requests with dignity and respect.
- Assist residents in preparing for various activities.
- Ensure that all care is delivered in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Perform basic nursing procedures as needed.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques.
- Create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Maintain accurate documentation of residents' daily activities and care plans.
- Adhere to departmental policies, quality improvement programs, and safety standards.
- Participate in training and educational programs to enhance care quality and maintain certification.
- Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Ability to process information accurately and make informed decisions.
- Competence in administering medications safely and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Capability to manage stressful situations and respond to medical emergencies.
- Familiarity with senior care principles and practices.

- Experience in a nursing home or senior care environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities is beneficial.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of medication training from a state-approved program.
- Current Medication Aide license through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- COVID-19 vaccination.
- Experience with elderly populations.
- Excellent physical stamina and a caring disposition.
