Position Overview

Exceptional Staffing Solutions is seeking a Registered Medical Aide (RMA) dedicated to providing quality care for our senior patients. In this role, you will be entrusted with the safe administration of medications in accordance with regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will also encompass assisting patients with daily living activities, mobility support, and nutritional needs. Experience with elderly care is essential, along with a compassionate demeanor, physical endurance, and strong communication abilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient support under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Exhibit proficiency in medication knowledge and administration methods.
  • Administer medications accurately following the unit dose system.
  • Complete medication distribution within required timeframes, ensuring accuracy.
  • Maintain daily documentation of medication administration records.
  • Understand and communicate the purpose and effects of medications to patients.
  • Utilize appropriate medical terminology during medication administration.
  • Adhere to proper procedures for medication preparation and administration.
  • Secure and store all medications in compliance with regulations.
  • Keep the medication cart in sight at all times and locked when not attended.
  • Report any medication errors and document them accordingly.
  • Respect Residents' Rights regarding medication and treatment confidentiality.
  • Provide personal and nursing care aligned with resident care plans.
  • Respond to resident needs with dignity and respect.
  • Assist in preparing residents for activities both inside and outside the facility.
  • Ensure that all care is delivered in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Perform basic nursing tasks as required.
  • Support resident mobility and transfers using safe techniques.
  • Create a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' daily activities and care plans.
  • Comply with departmental and corporate policies, quality improvement initiatives, and safety standards.
  • Participate in training and educational programs to enhance care quality and maintain certification.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned.


Essential Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Ability to accurately process information and make informed decisions.
  • Competence in administering medications safely and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and manage medical emergencies.
  • Familiarity with senior care principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compassionate approach to caregiving.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience in senior care settings is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities is beneficial.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of state-approved medication training.
  • Current Medication Aide license from the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • BLS/CPR certification.
  • COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Experience in elderly care.
  • Excellent physical stamina.
