Advising & LifeMap is a team of advisors, pathway coaches, student mentors, and administrators who support and guide students to reach their academic, career, transfer, and personal goals. As part of this mission, we are seeking a LifeMap Navigator to guide and support students through equitable practices that meet students' individual needs. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Advising & LifeMap and in collaboration with the Academic Coordinator, the LifeMap Navigator will support students who are not making satisfactory academic progress with the development of meaningful academic and personal goals that are connected to a career plan. The primary focus of this role is to utilize holistic needs assessments to guide students in the development and implementation of individualized success plans.

Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations) and maintain an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Participate in college meetings, community engagement, and outreach activities as needed.
Maintain a clear understanding of programs of study, requirements, and aid eligibility.
Participate in peak enrollment events and provide advising and course registration support for new students.
Work closely with Academic Coordinator and Institutional Research to gather, analyze, and interpret data to monitor students' progress that are not making satisfactory academic progress.
Design and facilitate student success workshops for students not making satisfactory academic progress.
Assist students in clarifying education and career goals and help students to develop individualized success plans.
Provide consistent and accessible case management support in an effort to retain students.
Build relationships with students and staff to support the student's movement along their educational pathway through direct referrals, progress checks, and proactive outreach.
Conduct outreach campaigns to students returning to BHCC that are eligible for Fresh Start.
Conduct outreach to students that receive an alert via Retention Suite/Student Success Center and refer to appropriate college resources and support.
Collaborate with academic, career and transfer advisors to develop and implement innovative retention activities.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or a closely related field; with two (2) years of experience and/or training in an advising setting within an institution of higher education.
Demonstrated experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socioeconomic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
Proficient knowledge of remote learning platforms and Microsoft Office, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Ability to represent the college positively and professionally, while using tact, discretion, and courtesy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically, and exercise independent judgment.
Prior experience with leading workshops, trainings and/or group meetings, both in-person and virtually.
Excellent, demonstrated written communication skills.
Ability to work Monday on campus and remotely on Friday.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work evenings.
Ability to work Saturdays during peak enrollment periods (August, September, January).
Experience working in a community college.
Ability to communicate proficiently in more than one language.

Additional Information:

Salary: $32.00 an hour at 18.5 hours a week
